WGS84

WGS84
World Geodetic System, 1984 (revised 2004). A global coordinate system. Originally developed as a military standard (MIL-STD-2401 Military Standard), WGS84 was produced to address the need for a global positioning coordinate system (for GPS).

WGS84 is an earth fixed global reference frame used for defining coordinates when surveying and by GPS systems.
