Operating System Authentication

Operating System Authentication
1. The process of an operating system authenticating a user prior to logon or prior to connection. See also User Authentication.
2. The process of an application (such as a database) requesting confirmation from the operating system to confirm that a user has been authenticated. This may also include the retrieval of additional user information from the operating system (such as access rights).
