LZW

LZW

Lempel-Ziv-Welsh.

A loss-less compression algorithm developed by Abraham Lempel, Jacoz Ziv (called LZ77) and later improved upon by Terry Welch. The abbreviation LZW (also known as LZ78) comes from the first letters of each of the contributors surnames.
