XML Paper Specification document.

An XML Paper Specification document is a document storage and viewing specification developed by Microsoft, proposed as an alternative to .pdf files.

Each .xps file consists of a set of XML and other files which are compressed. The individual files contained within the .xps file can be viewed by renaming the .xps file to .zip and then treating it as a .zip file.

Many Microsoft tools can generate .xps files, for example Microsoft Project 2007 and others.
