1. Portable Document Format (Acrobat PDF file). Can be opened and viewed with the free viewer from Adobe (see link below) or within a web-browser with the appropriate plug in.

PDF documents are often popular because they can be viewed by almost anyone but not edited. So manuals and literature is often distributed electronically as a PDF file.

  • www.primopdf.com - Download site for a number of PDF tools, including the free "PrimoPDF" which behaves as a printer but generates PDF files as output - so you can print to it to generate PDF files.
  • http://pdf995.com - Pdf995 provide a free printer driver that generates PDF files as output - so to generate a PDF file you simply print to their "printer".
  • www.accesspdf.com/pdftk/ -PDF toolkit, which is a command line tool for performing various operations on PDF files.
2. Printer Description File. Provides printer support for certain applications. 
Download Filestar to convert .pdf files. Filestar is an universal file converter for Windows that supports over 600 different file types.
