.bat
MS-DOS batch file. A text file holding a list of simple DOS commands. The file can be executed in a DOS environment, and the instructions on each line are executed in the order they are listed. Batch files can also be executed in any Microsoft Windows environment.

From Windows 2000 onwards, batch files whilst still supported, have been superseded by command files (.cmd).
