.log1 file extension

.log1
1. Generic log file. This is a generic file extension and may be used by a number of different applications.

A .log1 file is typically a text file, but this may vary according to the application which generates it. Typically a .log1 file will be generated in those instances where a .log file also exists but is used for a different purpose or has different information logged to it.

2. Windows Registry hive log file. The .log1 file is used to record the changes made to one of the Windows Registry hives.

This file (together possibly with a .log2 file) will be found in the folder %SystemRoot%\System32\config. The exception to this is the user data hive (ntuser.data.log1) which is maintained separately for each user in %UserProfile%.
