- Windows Error Reporting. WER is a feature build into Microsoft Windows
which captures information about an error caught by Windows and offers to
report that information back to Microsoft.
The errors caught by WER are typically application errors or driver errors. The benefit of allowing WER to report these to Microsoft is that it lets Microsoft know of problems and helps them prioritise issues. It also provides guidance on whether an issue has already been addressed and if so how to resolve it - typically this is by obtaining a driver update or a recommendation to upgrade to a newer version of the application.
