Pinging

Pinging: 1. Using ping to check basic network connectivity.; 2. In an Oracle Parallel Server database pinging refers to the situation where two (or more) servers are repeatedly needing to access the same blocks of data. The blocks are thus said to "ping" between them (because really only one server can access the block at a time).
