opt-in e-mail

opt-in e-mail: Web marketing term for e-mail that recipients have previously requested or agreed to receiving. Typically this consent is given when registering details on a website by ticking (or leaving ticked) a box saying that you wish the company to keep you informed of products/services or that the company may share your information with other companies and organisations. cf Spam.
