1. Mail Transfer Agent. A program responsible for the transfer of emails between one computer and another.

2. Message Transfer Agent. The Message Transfer Agent is used for all communications within a site (and between sites if site connectors are used) within Microsoft Exchange server.

3. Multi-Threaded Apartment. A term used within a Component Object Model technologies (COM) to indicate that multiple threads can share the same logical compartment. An application may have any number of threads, and each thread is responsible for ensuring synchronised access to global and shared data.
