MIDAS

1. Middle-tier Distributed Application Services. Borland physical multitier architecture used in Delphi. Renamed as DataSnap in Delphi 6.

2. Accordingly to Greek mythology Dionysus granted king Midas the request that everything he touch be turned into gold. This turned out to be a curse (granted a profitable one) because everything he touched was turned into gold - including food and eventually his daughter. Hence the expression "Midas touch" meaning to be (very) successful financially.
