Megabyte

A megabyte is a unit of storage, often abbreviated to simply MB meaning a million bytes.

Strictly, 1 megabyte = 2 to the twentieth power (2²⁰) bytes = 1,048,576 bytes = 1024 kilobytes. See also gigabyte.

Computer memory (RAM) is normally measured in megabytes, as is disk space.

Note: Storage devices sold by manufacturers normally assume 1MB = 1,000,000 bytes.
