Luser

1. Internet slang used to describe someone who is an annoying, irritating or stupid computer user (or combination thereof). Pronounced "loser". cf LART.

2. Local user. The term originates from an incident at MIT where hackers repeatedly changed "users" to "losers" on a message at logon. Eventually a compromise was reached on the term "luser", which has since been taken to mean local user.
