LTO

LTO

Linear Tape Open. A tape technology developed by IBP, HP and Seagate. LTO was originally developed as an alternative to DLT. Unlike DLT, LTO uses an open standard. LTO has generally replaced DLT as a preferred means of tape storage, not least because of its larger storage capacity.

LTO is available in two different sizes:

Accelis - which uses an 8mm tape.
Ultrium - which uses a half inch tape.
