GPO
1. Group Policy Object (under Windows 2000 and later). A set of configuration parameters that can be applied to users or computers. GPOs are objects in the Active Directory.

Each (Windows 2000 and later) pc has its own individual local GPO and when connected to an Active Directory may be subject to additional GPOs:

  • Site GPO - Group Policy for a site. Accessible from "Active Directory Sites and Services", right click the site that requires the GPO, select "Properties" and then the "Group Policy" tab.
  • Domain GPO - Group Policy for a domain. Accessible from "Active Directory Users and Computers", right click the domain and select "Properties" and then the "Group Policy" tab. 
  • OU level GPO - Group Policy for an OU. Accessible from "Active Directory Users and Computers", right click the OU and select "Properties" and then the "Group Policy" tab.
