1. Functional Specification.

A Functional Specification defines what a system needs to do. It may also define how the system needs to perform its task, but depending on the nature of the system it frequently will not need to cover the how.

Also abbreviated to Functional Requirements Specification (FRS) or Functional Design Specification (FDS).
