DNF

DNF
1. Digital National Framework.

DNF is the Ordnance Survey standard for referencing geographical Information.

2. Did Not Find.

DNF is an abbreviation used with Geocaching to indicate that a cache could not be found.

Geocaching is a worldwide game of seeking treasure. A geocacher can locate a geocache anywhere in the world with the help of a GPS or GPS-enabled mobile device and GPS coordinates that are listed online.

DNF is sometimes taken as meaning "Doing (the) Next (cacher a) Favour". This is because whilst an isolated DNF might mean that a cacher (who is a participant) failed to find the cache, repeated DNFs probably indicate that the cache is no longer available so it is no longer worth the effort to try to find it.
