AWOL
1. Absent Without Leave or Absent Without Official Leave, both meaning absent without permission.

The term AWOL is sometimes used to denote where application functionality is missing (or buggy). It can also be used to describe the situation where hardware has stopped working and which the operating system reports as being missing.

2. aWake On LAN. Refers to the ability of a network card to wake up a PC that is powered down or on standby when it receives a wake-up message.

AWOL is more commonly abbreviated as WOL (Wake On LAN).
