.v01

NT backup catalogue file. The .v01 file is a catalogue file, which represents the catalogue for a single backup.

The .v01 file may be:

• a simple placeholder for the backup - storing information about the backup but excluding information about the contents of that backup. In this instance the full catalogue must be read from the backup prior to restore.
• or it may be a full catalogue storing details of the files that have been backed up in a particular backup. In the latter case the file includes details of the files together with the directory structure.

The file is binary encoded, and can only be opened using Windows Backup (ntbackup).
