.mmd: Mail Message Download file. A Microsoft Exchange 4.5 file containing an email that has been downloaded by exchange but not yet forwarded to the appropriate destination mailbox. Exchange 4.5 generates .mmd files (in C:\Program Files\POP3 Connector\Incoming and \Inforward) when it cannot distribute messages to the relevant Exchange mailboxes. Exchange comes with a message viewer that can be used to view the content of these files.
