Home Page : File Types : dot M : .m4a
According to the MPEG-4 standard, the official file name for MPEG 4 files is .mp4. Contrary to this, Apple Inc use the .m4a file extension. Accordingly many applications that can play .mp4 files can also play .m4a files, although it may be necessary to rename the file to .mp4.
