.sif

Windows unattended install answer file. The .sif file provides answers to dialogs that would otherwise appear during the installation of Windows. This allows distributors to install windows on PCs without the need to individually attend to each installation. .sif files are also used by Microsoft as part of the normal installation process.

The format of a .sif file is similar to that of a .ini file. The sections and options in each section will vary depending on the version of windows that the .sif file is for.

.sif files are also generated as part of an ASR (Automated System Recovery) backup.
