.msv file extension

.msv
1. Memory Stick Voice file. This is a recorded sound file, the sounds in the file are compressed to reduce the size of the file.

The .msv format is a proprietary format developed by SONY as their preferred format for storing recorded messages on their memory stick recorders. There have been two different types of .msv file from SONY:

  1. MSV (ADPCM) - which uses pulse code modulation, encoding the audio waveform as a series of amplitudes.
  2. MSV (LPEC) - which uses the SONY proprietary "Long-term Predicted Excitation Coding (LPEC)" codec.

.msv files can be opened and played using Windows Media Player, or the original SONY tools on which the files were recorded. There are also tools available on the internet which will allow .msv files to be converted to other sound formats such as mp3.

2. MyStars saved file. MyStars is a shareware application for stargazers.
