The .fme file is a plain ASCII file and its content can be viewed using any text editor. It contains configuration information how to convert spatial data from one format to another.

The .fme file is used by the MapInfo Universal translator tool, which allows data to be converted between different spatial formats.

2. FME Mapping file.

The .FME file contains information on how to perform a spatial translation on spatial data. The .fme file itself is a plain ASCII file, and its content can be viewed using any text editor.
