1. Extension Configuration file.

A .ecf file defines an extension for Microsoft Outlook. Microsoft Outlook recognises a .ect file as an extension. Extensions allow the functionality provided by Outlook to be extended through the addition of extra features.

2. Sage CRM component file. A .ecf file (which is normally called COMPONENT.ECF) contains the component name, description and various other settings. The contents of this file can be viewed using a text editor.

3. Efficient Calendar data file.

Efficient Calendar is an easy to use calendar, scheduler and planner application. It saves calendar information to a .ecf file, which by default is named MyCalendar.ecf.
