Dynamic Linked Library file (Microsoft Windows DLL).

A .dll file is a binary file that can be loaded by more than one Windows application at a time, containing a collection of compiled functions that are available for applications to call and make use of.

For more information see:

  • www.dll-files.com - Site allowing download of missing DLLs, it can also be used to identify the role of a DLL.
  • www.dependencywalker.com - Dependency Walker, a free utility which will scan any 32-bit or 64-bit windows module (including .dll files) showing all of its dependencies (i.e. what other dlls etc it in turn requires).

Can you add to this? Do you know of any applications not already listed which will work with .dll files, view .dll files or open .dll files? Are you able to contribute any additional reference information or file format information about .dll files or have you spotted any errors or omissions? If so please let us know by emailing us at feedback@cryer.co.uk - Thank you.
