1. Generic binary file extension.
2. MacBinary-encoded file. A standard compressed format for the transfer of documents between Mac computers across a network.

The original MacBinary format was proposed back in 1985. It was revised a few years later, and that revision became known as MacBinary II. This has subsequently been replaced by MacBinary III.
