Change the Projection

MapInfo only allows the projection to be changed when saving. So to change the projection:

  1. File > Save Copy As ...
  2. Click the button [Projection ...]
  3. The current projection will be selected, change this to the desired projection. (There are lots to choose from, so it may take a while to find the one you need.)
  4. Save the file. You will need to save to a different file, so if you are saving a .tab file then you cannot simply save over that .tab file but must save to a different one.

These notes are believed to be correct for MapInfo v7.5 running on Windows 2000 and may apply to other versions as well.
